How is food cost % calculated?

Food cost % = cost of one portion ÷ menu price excluding tax. The cost of one portion adds up every ingredient line: purchase price ÷ pack size ÷ yield % × quantity used. Prep recipes are costed the same way and divided by their output. Settings > How calculations work shows each formula with your own currency.

Where does the suggested price come from?

It is the lowest price that reaches your target (food cost % or margin %), including tax and delivery commission if you set them, rounded up to your rounding step (for example ¥10, ₩100 or 0.10). It is a reference – you decide the final price.

How does Price Radar work?

Whenever you change a purchase price or yield, MarginRadar recalculates every dish that uses the ingredient, directly or through a prep recipe. Dishes that now miss your target are listed with old and new food cost %, the profit lost per portion and a suggested price. Apply it, set your own price or ignore it.

Why is a cost shown as "incomplete"?

An ingredient has no price, or its unit cannot be converted (for example a recipe uses cups but the ingredient is priced per kg without a density). Tap the red line to fix it. Incomplete costs are never counted as zero.

How do I back up my data or move to a new phone?

The app makes an automatic backup every day (the last 7 are kept in Files > On My iPhone > MarginRadar > Backups). You can also export a backup in Settings > Data. On the new device, install MarginRadar, then Settings > Data > Restore and choose the backup file (via AirDrop, Files or iCloud Drive).

Can I open my data in Excel?

Yes. Settings > Data > Export CSV. The file uses UTF-8 with BOM, and semicolons with decimal commas where your region expects them, so Excel opens it correctly. Importing ingredients from CSV is part of Pro.

What is free and what is Pro?

Free: up to 15 menu dishes, unlimited ingredients and prep recipes, Price Radar, image reports, CSV export and backups. Pro adds unlimited dishes, apply all suggested prices, what-if simulation, labor/packaging/overhead costs, scaling by one ingredient, CSV import and PDF. Exporting your own data is always free.

How do I restore or cancel a purchase?

Restore: Settings > MarginRadar Pro > Restore Purchases. Cancel a subscription: Settings > MarginRadar Pro > Manage Subscription, or iPhone Settings > your name > Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. For refunds, use reportaproblem.apple.com.

No. Recipes, prices and dishes are stored only on your device. See the Privacy Policy.
